Snow Hill Fest is more than a festival. It is a movement rooted in rich history, legacy, and heritage.
Founded in 1893 by Dr. William J. Edwards, the Snow Hill Institute Alumni Association hosts this event, bringing together alumni, families, and supporters to celebrate culture while investing in the community's future.

ABOUT SNOW HILL FEST
MEET THE LEADERSHIP TEAM
Nameica Turk-Craig
Nameica Turk-Craig is a wife, mother, entrepreneur, author, creative writer, philanthropist, and community advocate affectionately known by family, friends and locals as “Peaches.” A Snow Hill, AL native, she serves as a Professional Speaker, Identity-Aligned Image Consultant, Wardrobe Stylist, and Leadership Strategist while bringing more than 17 years of experience directing and hosting events.
Nameica’s connection to Snow Hill Institute runs deep. She attended Head Start on the Snow Hill campus under the instruction of the late Ms. Consuela Lee, participated in music and performing arts programs, received academic support through campus tutoring initiatives, and grew up attending community events held on the grounds. She is also the daughter of Lester and Debra Turk and comes from a family with multiple generations of Snow Hill Institute graduates and supporters.
Inspired by a vision to see the campus restored and thriving once again, Nameica accepted the call to help lead Snow Hill Fest in partnership with community leaders and alumni. Her passion is to help attract resources, partnerships, and support that will contribute to the preservation of Snow Hill’s legacy while creating opportunities for future generations. As she often says, home is truly where the heart is.

Mrs. Clara Gulley
Mrs. Clara Gulley is a proud 1966 graduate of Snow Hill Institute and currently serves as President of the Snow Hill Alumni Association. Her lifelong connection to Snow Hill began as a student, where she experienced firsthand the dedication of educators who inspired students to pursue excellence and lifelong learning.
Throughout the years, Mrs. Gulley has remained committed to giving back through after-school tutoring programs, adult education initiatives, and community service. Following the passing of the late Marvin Zack Brown, she assumed leadership of the Alumni Association in 2022 and continues to work diligently to preserve the institution’s legacy and strengthen alumni engagement for future generations.

Mr. Wendell Edwards is one of the two living grandchildren of Snow Hill Institute founder William James Edwards. A 1963 graduate of Snow Hill Institute, he has dedicated much of his life to preserving the history and future of the institution.
As the founder of The 1893 Initiative, Mr. Edwards developed a vision to generate support, increase awareness, attract new members, and create sustainable fundraising opportunities for the preservation of Snow Hill’s historic campus. Since 2020, he has served as an advisor to the Snow Hill Alumni Association and remains a passionate advocate for protecting the institution’s rich heritage for future generations.

Snow Hill Fest is part of The 1893 Initiative, named in honor of the Institute's founding year. This campaign is designed to provide sustainable, committed funding for the restoration and preservation of the Snow Hill Institute campus, including its two historic main buildings and surrounding grounds.
